CHRIST THE DOOR TO LIFE
23/04/24 08:32
“If we throw ourselves open to God, He will reveal. The trouble comes when we have closed areas, locked and barred places in our hearts, where we think, with pride, that we are right” ― Watchman Nee
COMA RELIGION
We can, if we are particularly dormant, find comfort in the doctrinal coma in which we live – resisting all revelations that expose distorted teaching or actual fraud. Opposed because we prefer the comfort of the coma in which we have been used to living. So we defend our ‘normal’ with every ingenious argument that comes to mind – in agreement with Satan’s intent to maintain the lie.
UNDERSTANDING LAID AT THE CROSS
“All our understanding must go through the Cross. Most importantly, the solid doctrines we fear to doubt must be laid as an offering to be done with as He sees fit. When we have abandoned our own accepted understandings, theological wisdom and learned perspectives unto Him, we may just find that we don’t think about or see things like we once did, and we will possess His mind just as He possesses our minds.” (1)
DISCERNING MINDS
We can live in confusion if we choose – which is a sure sign that we are not walking with the Lord who promised that those who follow Him do not walk in darkness. We will not walk as ‘ninnies’ with shrivelled minds and life-denying attitudes if Christ and not some deviant teaching is our life.
SPIRITUAL INSIGHT
Leanne Payne wrote, “Lewis, it seems to me, more than any other great mind of our age, managed to transcend, imaginatively as well as intellectually, the spirit and mind-set of our age. His insights into man and his cosmos, therefore, and the imagery and the symbolism with which he embodied these insights, are profoundly Christian. THEY ARE INCARNATIONAL. His work reflects, always and powerfully, the truth that God comes down to us, enters into our closed and alienated minds and worlds, and proclaims Himself to be not a subjective state of our minds or bodies, but the one great Objective Real.” (2) You will never have a shrunken mind if the Christianity in which you believe is the Truth and not a lie. Watchman Nee wrote, “God is not seeking a display of my Christ-likeness , but a manifestation of His Christ.”
